Genius Sports to drive commercial returns from FAW’s data in the media and regulated betting sectors

Genius Sports, the global leader in sports data technology, commercialisation and distribution services, has formed a partnership with The Football Association of Wales (FAW) to maximise the commercial value of the governing body’s official data.

Under the terms of the agreement, Genius Sports’ network of highly trained, accredited statisticians will collect real-time data from pitchside at a wide range of competitions including the JD Welsh Premier League, Orchard Welsh Premier Women’s League and the JD Welsh Cup.

The FAW has granted Genius Sports the non-exclusive, worldwide commercialisation rights for this data within the media and regulated betting sectors.

By harnessing Genius Sports’ marketing leading collection and commercialisation technologies, this new partnership enables the FAW to guarantee the accuracy and reliability of its data, maximise its commercial returns and help grow Welsh football’s audience globally.

Jonathan Ford, Chief Executive of the FAW, said: “It is important that we as an association maximise the full value of the data from our major domestic competitions. To that end we are pleased to have formed this partnership with Genius Sports, which we believe will enable us to achieve this, as well as expand our audience.”

Steven Burton, Managing Director of Genius Sports, said: “When combined with the right technology, official data can drive long-term, quantifiable benefits for rights holders. Our technology is relied upon by the largest leagues and federations in world sport and we are delighted to be working in partnership with the Football Association of Wales to help them to unlock the full value of their data.”
