GovRisk announces third Sports Integrity Summit in partnership with Genius Sports and Entain

The International Governance and Risk Institute (GovRisk), in partnership with Genius Sports and Entain, announce the third Sports Integrity Summit on 5th September 2024 at the Museum of Football in São Paulo, Brazil.

The summit will feature a keynote address by the Minister of Sport, André Fufuca, as well as sessions from leading figures from across the global sports industry, including Ministers, athletes, regulators, and international experts from the National Football League (NFL), Confederation of Brazilian Football (CBF) and the English Premier League (EPL) to share best practices on preventing the threats of betting-related corruption. Topics will include global strategies to detect, disrupt and prevent match-fixing, team and player education prevention programmes, athlete welfare, and the role that technology plays in identifying fraud.

 André Fufuca, Minister of Sport commented: “Firstly, it is an honour for the Ministry of Sports (MESP) to participate in a great event like the Sports Integrity Summit. MESP understands that it is the state’s role to ensure that the sports ecosystem, remains ethical, honest and beyond reproach. Because, in addition to financial revenues, sport mobilises and impacts the lives of fans, athletes and society in general, who place great trust in the unpredictability of results and the fairness of disputes, and who should benefit from an honest, healthy, inclusive environment, safe and formative of your citizenship.

The GovRisk Sports Integrity Summits are focused towards tangible impact and outcomes. The first summit produced a resolution to form a new Brazilian Sports Integrity Association – which has now developed to become the “Brazilian Association for the Defense of the Integrity of Sport” (“ABRADIE”), a non-profit organisation focused on protecting the integrity of Brazilian sport. ABRADIE brings together representatives from the betting industry, government authorities, players, fans, sports regulatory bodies, teams, and legal professionals to combat fraud and unfair manipulation, including match-fixing and spot-fixing. This initiative continues to play a vital role in safeguarding the interests of consumers, sports leagues, and other stakeholders and is a key collaborative partner in this year’s event.
